Apex review

The Steel Series Apex keyboard is the largest that has been made so far. All sorts of features have been added to this keyboard to make it the best possible form. Some unique features include extra wide space bar, additional arrow keys as well as 88 macro keys with different combinations having dedicated buttons. The might be a good tool while writing video games reviews. SteelSeries Apex is one of the better keyboards for gaming purposes. The keyboard is of huge size measuring 1.18 by 20.5 by 8.7 inches. It is wide and broad. The palm rest is not huge though.

SteelSeries Apex keyboard has 140 buttons having a standard QWERTY set up along with a numeric 10-key pad. This will definitely help you to write good video games reviews. Moreover, it has 12 function buttons, six arrow keys as well dedicated multimedia controls. Along with four regular arrow keys, two additional arrow keys, up/left and up/right have been added which is a perfection gaming combination. The space bar is wider almost double the width of a regular space bar. Some programmable buttons are also available on this keyboard. In addition to standard macros on a regular keyboard, this one has 22 additional macro keys.
Switching from one macro combination to another is as simple as pressing a button. On the far right side of the keyboard, media controls are placed. These buttons offer standard media controls through the keyboard including volume, pause/play, forward and back. This can easily be done without using any function key. Some additional features are also added that are particularly helpful for gamers. For example, Windows key can be disabled during gaming by a simple keystroke. Anti-ghosting option is also available on this keyboard that enables you to press six key combinations simultaneously without locking the keyboard or dropping a keystroke.

The keys on the keyboard are not only backlit but they have been arranged in four different light zones. SteelSeries calls this action zones. These different colors help to distinguish it from other macro keys and choose the right one. The extra glowing colors on the edge of the keyboard create a cool atmospheric effect when the keyboard is used in a dim or dark room. For video games reviews, the W key has two raised dots providing a sensory distinction from a standard keyboard which has dots on F and J keys only. They keyboard is connected to a PC through a USB port.
